Guidelines And Information
Covid Testing Prior To Surgery
Step One
The facility at which your procedure is scheduled requires that you be COVID tested prior to surgery and then self-quarantine/self-isolate at home with a mask on prior to your procedure. The day on which your COVID test is performed will depend upon which facility and which day of the week your procedure is scheduled, but will not be over seven days prior to the date of your procedure. Our office staff will assist you in scheduling testing once you have secured a surgical date. Failure to be tested at your scheduled time or failing to self-quarantine/self-isolate at home will automatically subject your procedure to cancellation.
Step Two
Any patient who has tested positive for COVID at any time now must demonstrate that they have had two negative COVID tests at least two weeks apart prior to scheduling surgery. Additionally, they must be evaluated by a hematologist pre-operatively to assess their risk of blood clots postoperatively and for the hematologist to make recommendations based upon their findings of their work-up.
Step Three
Patients should self-isolate with a mask on at home for the time after testing, up until surgery.
