Breast Augmentation in NJ

If you feel that your breasts are small or losing volume and shape, a breast augmentation can help restore volume, improve breast size and asymmetry, and boost your self-confidence! Breast augmentation surgery, or augmentation mammoplasty, uses breast implants or fat transfers to enhance the size of your breasts. With 25 years of experience, I specialize in breast augmentation surgery, taking the opportunity to improve the balance of your figure and fulfill your desire for fuller breasts.

Good-Candidate

Breast Augmentation Candidates

Ideal candidates for breast augmentation are physically healthy, have fully developed breasts, not pregnant or breastfeeding, and have realistic expectations of the outcomes of surgery. You may also be a good candidate for breast augmentation if you feel that your breasts are small, asymmetrical, or are unhappy with the loss of breast shape and volume due to aging, pregnancy, or weight loss.
Consultation

What to Expect During a Breast Augmentation Consultation

During your breast augmentation consultation, I will talk to you about your surgical goals, medical history, medications, and drug allergies. My team and I will also go over potential complications, outcomes of the surgery, and evaluate your breasts. During the evaluation process, I will examine the underlying torso shape, which critically impacts not only breast appearance but also implant selection and surgical outcomes. Whether it’s asymmetries, undulations, depression (pectus excavatum), or the chest wall peaking (pectus carinatum), these conditions must be considered during the planning process and execution of breast augmentation surgery. I will also review the following with you about your implants during your consultation:

  • Choice of Saline or Silicone
  • Choice of Smooth or Textured Surfaces
  • Diameter of the Implant
  • Location of Implant Placement (Above or Under Pectoral Muscle)
  • Incision Location (Axillary, Peri-areolar, or Inframammary Fold)
  • Projection of Implant
  • Shape of Implants (Round or Shaped)

How to Prepare for Breast Augmentation

Preparing for breast augmentation surgery may require you to get a blood test, avoid certain medications, quit smoking, and not take over-the-counter inflammatory drugs or aspirin that may increase bleeding. After your procedure, you are not allowed to drive. Please plan to have a relative or close friend take you to and from our outpatient center.

Breast Augmentation Surgery

During your procedure, I will make an incision either along the areolar edge, under the breast fold, or in the armpit. The type of incision I make is based on your desired outcomes and my recommendations during your initial consultation. After I make the incision, I insert the breast implant into a pocket either under the pectoral muscle, over the pectoral muscle, or directly behind the breast tissue. The way I insert and position your implants depends on your body type and the implant type and size. Once the implants are in, I close the incisions with layered sutures in the breast tissue and skin adhesive or sutures to close your skin.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Before you leave, my team and I will give you post-operative instructions to follow, including how to care for your breasts, medications to apply or take orally, and when to make your follow-up appointment. For the first few weeks, you may experience soreness, swelling, and bleeding in the pockets around the breast implants. Over time, swelling will decrease, and your incision lines will fade. Recovery time for breast augmentation varies depending on each patient, but a full recovery generally takes an average of six weeks or longer to heal. Breast augmentation offers long-lasting results and a solution for you to positively alter your breast, shape, size, and volume!

Breast Augmentation Results

Breast augmentation surgery produces long-lasting results that can improve your body image and self-esteem. Each patient will notice enhanced breast size, improved shape, and a more symmetrical profile. You can expect to see your final results after a few months of recovery, as it takes time for the implants to settle and for swelling to subside. Keep in mind that over time your breasts will continue to age which can influence their appearance. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle, avoiding significant weight gain or loss, and avoidance of certain few pectoralis muscle-building exercises will ensure you remain satisfied with the appearance of your breasts.
