Filler Injections in New Jersey

At Spiro Plastic Surgery, we specialize in an array of cosmetic and plastic surgery treatments focused on helping our patients look and feel their best. Among the many services we offer are injectable fillers, which can help smooth out your wrinkles and provide you with a more youthful appearance.

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal fillers are small injections of gel beneath the skin that are used to fill in wrinkles, soften creases, and restore lost volume to areas of soft tissue in the face. They are primarily made of hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance already in your skin that helps keep it plump and hydrated. Fillers are administered to add volume and reduce the signs of aging around the eyes, cheeks, mouth, and jawline. They can also be used to reduce the appearance of vertical lip lines or to enhance the plumpness of your lips.

Types of Injectable Fillers

The allergan family of fillers: Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella, Vollure are some of the types of fillers we use at Spiro Plastic Surgery to reveal a younger you. These dermal fillers can be used to add volume and fullness to your cheeks and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around your mouth and nose. They can also help with lip augmentations and lip lines. Depending on your individual needs, your doctor will determine which type of filler is best for you.

What are the Benefits of Filler Injections

Starting in your early 20’s, your skin begins to lose elastin and collagen, making you more susceptible to fine lines and wrinkles. Filler injections can help temporarily eliminate this problem and rejuvenate your facial features once again. With fillers, you can easily enhance the contours of your face and smooth troublesome lines without invasive surgery. There’s no downtime necessary, and few side effects have been reported aside from minor swelling and bruising. Fillers can last anywhere from six to eighteen months or longer with simple follow up injections to keep you looking youthful.

How to prepare for your consultation

During your initial consultation, you’ll discuss your personal goals and expectations with one of our plastic surgeons. From there, your doctor will evaluate your primary concerns and look over your medical history to review medications you are taking or any allergies or skin conditions you may have. This helps our team at Spiro Plastic Surgery determine which dermal filler will provide the best results for you. During your appointment, be sure to ask any questions you may have prior to your injections to fully understand exactly what your next visit will entail or if preferred, the injections can be performed that day.

What to expect during your injectable filler treatment

Before your Botox treatment, the target areas are cleaned by your cosmetic surgeon, and a topical anesthetic may be applied. Botox will then be injected into the areas of the face to be addressed, which only takes a few minutes. As the needle used for Botox is very fine, most patients experience only minor discomfort.

Immediately after your session, you should avoid lying down for up to two hours. You should also avoid touching your face after your treatment so that the Botox is unable to move to areas it was not intended to reach. Temporary bruising is common, and headaches, which usually end 48 hours after treatment, are a rare side effect. Dr. Spiro and Dr. Parcells will answer any questions you have, so you can leave the office feeling confident about your treatment.
