Body Lift in NJ
Whether you call it torso lift, torsoplasty, total body lift, body lift, or upper or lower body lift, I refer to the removal of excess, loose skin and fat around the midsection as a total body lift. “Body lift” is an extension of the typical abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) procedure, encompassing the entire torso including the flanks, hips, thighs, waist, and buttocks. A variety of factors cause loose and sagging skin, including fluctuations in weight, aging, pregnancy, sun damage, and heredity, which may contribute to poor tissue elasticity. At Spiro Plastic Surgery, each body lift I perform is customized to meet each of our patient’s needs for transformational results!
I tailor each New Jersey body lift procedure to my patients’ unique needs, so the results will be as individual as you are. My surgical approach combines breast, abdomen, and other body contouring procedures to restore the shape and appearance of my patients’ bodies with truly transformational results. I infuse every procedure with an artist’s vision. Patients have traveled here from more than 25 states and 17 different countries because of my reputation as an outstanding surgeon. We want every patient to remember us for having been a positive, life-changing influence.

Body Lift Surgery Candidates
Good candidates for a full-body lift are healthy individuals that are non-smokers, committed to a healthy diet and lifestyle, do not have previous medical conditions that may impair recovery, and have realistic expectations of results after surgery. The great misconception of this procedure is that it is only applicable to women (or men) who have undergone massive weight loss, which is not true. For more of our patients undergo body lift procedures who have simply gained and lost typical pregnancy weight and are left with loose excess skin and unwanted fat not only in their abdomen but in their flanks, hips, and buttocks.

What to Expect During a Body Lift Consultation
During a total body lift consultation, I will talk to you about your surgical goals, any drug allergies, previous medical conditions or surgeries, and current medications. My team and I will also evaluate your general health, take detailed body measurements, talk about potential risks and complications, and discuss your body lift options and outcomes after surgery.
To prepare for body lift surgery, you may need to adjust your current medications and avoid taking aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs that may increase bleeding. If you smoke, vape, or use any nicotine, cannabinoid, and/or ADHD medication, you must be willing to stop for several weeks before and after your surgery.
You should also arrange for someone to drive you to and from our surgical center.

Body Lift Procedure in NJ
On the day of your surgery, our anesthesia team will administer general anesthesia for your comfort before the procedure. Incisions are made around the body to remove loose skin and fat, repositioning and tightening tissues in the abdomen, waist, buttocks, and thigh. Once your body has been repositioned and lifted, I will close the incisions with deep sutures in the underlying tissue to help support the newly shaped contours.
Recovery Time for Full Body Lift Surgery
The body lift recovery time depends on the extent of the surgery performed, but most patients may return to normal activities within two to six weeks. After your surgery, dressings and bandages are applied to the incisions, and small tubes are temporarily placed under the skin to help drain excess fluid. You will also get specific post-operative instructions on how to care for your incisions, what to look out for, medications to apply or take, and when to make a follow-up appointment. Swelling can take anywhere from two to six weeks to go down, and scarring may be visible for three to six months. Following a successful recovery, you’ll see the results of your new shape after your swelling subsides!
Body Lift Results
Body lift procedures are the best way to remove excess skin after major weight loss. You can see the results of a body lift almost immediately, but your final results may take six months for final maturity. While you may notice some visible scarring, the overall results are long-lasting and significantly reduce the appearance of stretch marks. As you age, it’s natural for your body to lose some firmness. However, most of your initial improvement from surgery should remain through maintaining a stable weight and exercise.
