The first 1 to 2 weeks typically involve swelling, tightness, soreness, and temporary changes in breast position as tissues begin healing. Most patients notice gradual improvement in comfort during this early recovery period.
What to Expect
A breast lift with implants is a procedure that combines a breast lift (mastopexy, and possibly reduction) with a breast implant augmentation. The combination of these two techniques can increase your breast size and correct sagging, giving your breasts fuller, rounder, and more youthful contours.

Light daily activities are often resumed within several days to 1 week, while lifting, upper-body exercise, and more strenuous activity are typically restricted for approximately 4 to 6 weeks.
You’ll notice improved shape and fullness immediately after surgery, but breasts continue settling and softening over time. Final position, contour, and implant settling often develop over 3 to 6 months.
Incisions are selected based on your anatomy and treatment plan. Scars continue fading and softening over 12 months or longer.

Frequently Asked Questions
Preparing for breast lift surgery with implants may include quitting smoking, adjusting your medications, getting physical and lab tests, and avoiding supplements or prescription drugs that may increase bleeding. Please arrange for a family member or friend to drive you home and stay with you for the first 24 hours following surgery.
I perform breast lift with implants surgery while patients are under general anesthesia. During your procedure, I make an incision following the plan discussed during the consultation. The incision might be around the edge of the areola, along the curved crease below the breast, in a line from the bottom edge of the areola down to the center of the breast crease, or a combination of these locations.
After I make the incision, I reposition and resize the nipple and areola to a more youthful size and height. I remove excess skin to lift and reshape the breast. I then create a pocket for the implant under the pectoral muscle or within the breast tissue.
Once I place the implants, I complete the surgery by closing your incisions with dissolving sutures. After the anesthesia wears off, you can return home with a friend or family member to drive you.
Before you leave, my team and I will give you post-operative instructions to follow, including how to care for your breasts, medications to apply or take orally, and when to make your follow-up appointments. We will also provide you with a support bra to reduce swelling and support the shape of your new breasts as they recover.
For the first few weeks, you may experience soreness, swelling, and bleeding in the pockets around the breast implants. You’ll need to avoid strenuous activities until I clear you to resume them. Over time, swelling will decrease, and your incision lines will fade. Recovery time for a breast lift with implants varies by patient, but, on average, it takes approximately 6 weeks to heal fully.
After your recovery, you’ll see a fuller, firmer, and more youthful breast shape! Having a breast lift with implants can improve your body image and confidence by lifting, rounding, and enlarging your breasts. The residual swelling will diminish in the months following the procedure, and the implants will have time to settle, revealing your new breasts’ final appearance.
The results of a breast lift with implants are long-lasting, though weight fluctuation and aging can impact your breasts over time. Adopting a healthy lifestyle and keeping a consistent weight can help maintain your new look.
