Liposuction Surgery in NJ

Liposuction is a body-contouring procedure that removes unwanted fat beneath the skin. It slims and reshapes by removing excess fat deposits for a trim, fit appearance. I have over 27 years of experience performing liposuction surgery in New Jersey, helping each patient achieve a more sculpted figure. With my three-dimensional approach, I achieve beautiful results in flattening the abdomen, slimming the waistline, and suctioning unwanted fat from the thighs, upper arms, back, buttocks, and chin.

I combine comprehensive medical expertise with an artist’s vision in every procedure to optimize each result. Patients have come from more than 25 states and 17 different countries for our surgical treatment because of our results. We want every patient to remember us for having been a positive, life-changing influence.

Why You Might Consider Liposuction

Liposuction removes areas of fat that are resistant to slimming with diet and exercise. You might benefit from liposuction if you have stubborn fat deposits on your:

  • Abdomen
  • Waist and hips
  • Upper arms
  • Back & Buttocks
  • Thighs
  • Calves and ankles
  • Chin
  • Neck

Liposuction can also reduce fat on men’s chests (gynecomastia treatment), and it is an excellent addition to other procedures, including tummy tuck and breast reduction. I can also process and purify the excess fat removed with liposuction and inject it into another part of your body, such as the breasts, buttocks (“Brazilian Butt Lift”/”BBL”), or the face in a fat grafting procedure.

Liposuction is a contouring procedure, not a shortcut to weight loss. While I can remove a moderate amount of fat with liposuction, the goal is to improve the body’s lines and curves, not to reduce overall weight.

SURGEON BY TRADE

I am a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in breast cancer reconstructive surgery and cosmetic procedures of the breast, body, and face. To me, every patient is unique and deserves results tailored to their concerns. You can understand my approach to care by reviewing the testimonials and before and after galleries on this site and learning about the many “Top Doctor” awards I have won.

ARTIST AT HEART

Art is my other passion, and my artist’s vision guides my work as a surgeon. I have done technical illustrations for many journal articles, book chapters, and patient resource pamphlets for national societies. I am also an accomplished painter, sculptor, and photographer. When you visit our office, you’ll see a gallery of reproductions of many of my pieces in oil, graphite, and photography.

Liposuction Candidates

Ideal liposuction candidates are people with areas of localized fat that remain intact in spite of healthy eating habits and regular exercise. The best-qualified patients are in overall good health and have realistic expectations for their results. If you smoke, vape, and/or use medication to treat ADHD, you must be willing to stop for several weeks before and after your surgery.

Skin elasticity and resilience are factors, too. Liposuction is most effective when used on areas of the body where the skin will tighten and smooth naturally after fat removal.

Liposuction is not for patients looking for a quick way to lose weight.

What to Expect During a Liposuction Consultation

During your liposuction consultation, I will talk with you about your current medications, drug allergies, previous surgeries, medical conditions, and goals. My team and I will also evaluate your general health, discuss potential risks and complications, answer all your questions, and recommend other procedures to combine with your liposuction surgery, depending on your desired outcomes.

How to Prepare for Liposuction

Preparing for liposuction may require you to get an additional medical evaluation, quit smoking, temporarily stop taking certain medications, and avoid aspirin or herbal supplements that may cause an increase in bleeding. You will also need to make arrangements for someone to take you to and from the surgical center, as you can’t drive yourself home after liposuction surgery.

The Liposuction Procedure

I perform liposuction procedures under general anesthesia at an outpatient surgical center. Based on your body type and aesthetic goals, I make several small incisions in the treatment areas and inject a tumescent solution to minimize blood loss and reduce post-surgical bruising and pain. I use a small tube with a vacuum syringe to draw out the localized fat deposits. I insert the tube into the incisions to loosen excess fat in a back-and-forth motion, suctioning out the unwanted fat from your body. Liposuction procedures require fewer and smaller incisions than other plastic surgery procedures and create natural-looking results with only minimal scarring.

As a board-certified plastic surgeon in NJ with years of experience performing liposuction surgery, I challenge the notion of two-dimensional liposuction and elevate it with a three-dimensional concept of aesthetic body contouring. Three-dimensional contouring (circumferential lipoplasty) involves removing fat from the entire torso, arms, and thighs with the additional benefit of facilitating “shrink wrapping” of tissues.

My approach leads to more dramatic and positive shape changes in the different areas of the body that liposuction can treat, such as the chest, abdomen, thighs, hips, buttocks, upper arms, back, and calves. I often combine liposuction with other reshaping procedures, such as a tummy tuckbuttock fat grafting, or breast reduction and lift, to maximize your body contouring results.

Liposuction Recovery & Results

Liposuction recovery time depends on the procedure performed and how quickly your body heals. However, most of our patients can return to work within a few days and resume typical activities within two to four weeks. After the surgery, you may experience bruising, swelling, and soreness. To achieve the best outcomes, you will have to wear compression garments to reduce your swelling and help shape your new body contours.
For a successful liposuction recovery, follow your post-operative instructions, including how to take care of your drains and incisions, specific concerns to look for, and when to return for a follow-up appointment.

Final liposuction results may take several months to fully as it takes time for residual swelling to subside. Once the swelling is gone, the treated areas will have a more slender appearance. Depending on your ideal outcomes and targeted areas, you may see improved body proportions, fewer fat bulges, and more defined natural body curves. The results are long-lasting if you maintain your weight with a healthy diet and exercise.
